My wife talked me into buying her an iPhone today. Now, it's only a matter of time till she convinces me to get the 2012 Equinox. Anything I should know about the iPhone and how it works with MyLink in the Equinox? Any tips, tricks, or suggestions?
"Only a matter of time till she convinces me " -- nice!
Congrats on the iPhone and the impending Equinox! The iPhone should work seamlessly with MyLink -- it has for me and I'm still on the 3Gs version. The only difference between it and an Android unit as far as MyLink compatibility is concerned involves voice control. The iPhone needs to be plugged in while Androids can do it wirelessly. Some have told me that iOS 5, the software powering the 4S, now allows for Bluetooth commands -- but I haven't tried it myself yet.
Other than that, the two should be perfect companions!
We just got the Equinox. Mocha Steel Metallic LTZ. Wife actually wanted a red one but they're not available due to the Japan natural disasters, which cut supply of certain components of the color, I guess.
Her iPhone works perfectly with MyLink - I can't complain about a thing. Now if only MyLink were available in my Camaro... =;
Doing so activates the Bluetooth voice pass-through -- so you're basically talking to your iPhone's Siri/voice commands feature via your Bluetooth mic in the car. Used this one my Cruze.
@alex I wonder what the difference will really come down to. So far pandora and that other app is not something for me to care about. I posted on that link you put. Mainly, future updates and Bluetooth/Siri working better is what I would care about. It does this weird thing where the car radio says disconnecting after using Siri and then immediately reconnects for the call. It also disconnects if there are multiple numbers for a contact. It asks which to call but immediately disconnects when you try to say Mobile etc.. Gonna fiddle with the contacts that the radio syncs with it and see of that's any better.
